Why Wavelengths Matter
Laser tattoo removal is all about wavelengths and the absorption of light energy. During a treatment, a laser emits different wavelengths of light energy onto a tattoo. Each wavelength targets a specific group of tattoo ink colors. If the wavelength and color match, then the tattoo ink pigment will absorb the light energy and shatter into tiny particles that are small enough to be flushed out of the body. If the tattoo ink pigment reflects the light energy, then the ink will stay intact and remain trapped in the skin permanently.
Different lasers produce different wavelengths. The more wavelengths a laser supports, the more tattoo ink colors it can treat. Lighten Up Laser Clinic has invested in the industry-leading Astanza Trinity laser because it supports three versatile wavelengths. Together, these wavelengths cover the widest range of tattoo ink colors and can effectively treat and remove the most colorful tattoos. Each wavelength is absorbed by a specific group of ink colors:
- 1064nm – black, brown, dark blue
- 532nm – red, orange, yellow, violet
- 694nm – vivid blue, bright green, turquoise, teal
Colors like black and red are very easy to treat, but colors like green and blue are very resistant and require a ruby wavelength for successful absorption. The Astanza Trinity’s 694nm ruby wavelength is the best solution for treating tattoos with a lot of bright blue and green inks.
If you have a colorful tattoo that you want to remove, don’t look elsewhere! Many of our competitors do not support more than one or two wavelengths.
